Passersby on the Division Street strip have been wondering for many months when MAK Restaurant would open and what it looks like behind the paper. Well, it finally opened Friday with a limited menu and will serve their full menu starting tomorrow.
The aesthetics, portrayed in the gallery above, feature an espresso wood plank exterior that peeks over the front window. On the other side of that window, exposed brick frames a four-seat counter. Four wooden booths line the east wall opposite an open kitchen and fast-casual serving station. On the walls, posters embrace Mao-esque uprisings by turning them into a "food for the masses" ideal. Owner Tommy Wang hopes the Division Street masses will embrace his food.
