A definitive resolution is finally in place for Socca, the Lakeview Mediterranean standby of nearly ten years that was reported to be closing. Well, it is closing—the last night is June 30—but a new restaurant and bar under new ownership is opening in its wake, Hutch.
Hutch will serve American comfort food to the Lakeview and Wrigleyville masses, helmed by new owner Marc Wuenschel, formerly of Roger Greenfield's Restaurants-America. Wuenschel is keeping Socca's kitchen staff aboard, only they'll cook different food now. Look for classic American dishes like babyback ribs, steak frites, double cut pork chops, flatbreads, and wedge salads. Dessert options will include beer float with dulce de leche gelato and porter. The opening is sometime in July.
Before that, however, they're hosting a party to say goodbye to Socca on June 30 from 4-8 p.m. with complimentary bites, drinks, and a Hutch preview. Socca's last dinner service will be June 29.
