You know Harold's Chicken. Those quintessentially-Chicago fried chicken shacks peppered all over the area, serving fried chicken, fish, and varying soul food from numbered divey storefronts. But soon, if CEO Kristen Pierce's (founder Harold Pierce's daughter) plan comes to fruition, you might see them in airports, stadiums, and college campuses across the country, Chicago Grid writes.
Pierce has big plans for the local chain. Before the possible national expansion, Pierce says they're opening six to ten new locations in the next year, including the Loop, so that location number will grow substantially in a short period of time. She's also seeking to make the locations more uniform, calling many of the current spots "rogue locations," and she wants to remove the word "shack" from the name.
