The Slide Ride Sliding into a Storefront This Fall

It's been nearly two years since Nida Rodriguez's food truck, The Slide Ride, hit the streets, and despite local legislation, business has been good. Now Rodriguez is getting ready to open an actual storefront, The Slide Shoppe, in the fall.

Located in the shuttered Brothers space on Elston, Rodriguez says she "just drove by" the spot, saw a for rent sign, and signed the lease the same day. The small space will mostly be for takeout business, as there's only room for a few tables. Serving diner fare, breakfast, and her signature slider selection, it will also serve as a commissary for The Slide Ride, which she's looking to expand with another truck.

She's spending her summer selling sliders at festivals, weddings, and catering, in addition to the regular food truck business. Expect The Slide Shoppe to open in the fall once some of that business cools off. Until then, follow her on Twitter to see where the truck is.
