Eleven City Diner, the popular nostalgic diner concept in the South Loop, is getting ready to cut the ribbon on their expansion with some new wrinkles for the Lincoln Park clientele. Titled Eleven Lincoln Park, the opening date is set for June 25. Look for throwback diner and deli features like an in-house soda jerk, a confectionary counter, a deli case, and cask-aged root beer.
The menu will still carry the majority of the traditional diner and deli menu from the original location but with three new dishes: "Black & White French Toast" (challah bread, white chocolate sauce, pretzel dust), "Black & Blue Burger" (angus beef, blue cheese butter), and "#43 Sandwich" (corned beef on latke, sour cream smear, fried onion strings, challah bun). The deli case will carry a variety of meats and cheeses, including smoked fish. Sundaes, shakes, malts, and phosphate sodas will be available at the refurbished soda fountain. A barista counter will brew Intelligentsia coffee and espresso.
The space, which used to house Belden Deli, holds 115 seats in the form of stools, booths, tables, and leather couches. The design is similar to the mid-century art deco featured by the South Loop location. The opening is one week from today.
