This makes sense in so many ways. One of the most historic restaurant spaces in town, Maxim's, was being auctioned by the city. One of the busiest restaurateurs in town just happens to have a penchant for "the preservation of food culture," such as diners and Jewish delis. Said restaurateur, Brendan Sodikoff, is the man undertaking the preservation of the historic Maxim's, Dish reports.
During the bidding process, city officials said they weren't sure whether whoever won the space would preserve any of the location's history. It turns out that Sodikoff's plan is a "full restoration," including a "classic vintage Maxim's menu with today's food standards." The projected opening is early 2014.
