In late March, a Spanish sign went up in the window of Las Islas Marinas at 2523 N. Milwaukee saying the restaurant would be relocating to 2903 W. Diversey effective April 4. On April 10, a press release landed in the inbox stating that very space had been sold and that "the new owners plan to convert the former Mexican restaurant into a lounge focusing on a line of craft cocktails." In the last couple weeks, multiple sources in multiple industries, including that immediate vicinity, have said that the new tenants are longtime bartenders from Violet Hour.
This week, one of said bartenders confirmed that he's working on a new project, he even held off on adding cocktails to their recently released spring menu because he's "saving recipes" for another project. After deflecting questions to PR, One Off Hospitality representatives say they don't know what's going on. The new building owner has not returned multiple phone calls.
If true, the new project would join a host of others in the exploding neighborhood, including concepts from Boiler Room, Innjoy, Intelligentsia, an unnamed Land & Sea Dept. bar, Polanco, and many more that have recently opened or rumored to be on the way. It would join Barrelhouse Flat as a Violet Hour spinoff. The aforementioned press release says that "Logan Square residents can anticipate a Labor Day weekend opening."
