Christian Gosselin OUT at The Boarding House

Since opening in December, The Boarding House has garnered mixed reaction from diners and critics alike. Now they are changing things up in the kitchen and food program, as opening executive chef Christian Gosselin is out and Bjorn Rasmussen has been promoted to chef de cuisine. This is the second major shakeup at Alpana Singh's mammoth project, as Dan Pilkey was brought in as sommelier in January.

A giant spotlight and high expectations come along with the former Check Please host's first restaurant. Recent reviews seemed to warm up the project, as Chicago Magazine's Jeff Ruby called it "an eventual Chicago classic." Still, Singh is choosing to go a different direction in the kitchen to add more "Mediterranean and lighter dishes" to the menu soon. The current menu has heavy meat-centric items like chicken poutine, veal chops, and steaks that are suited to Gosselin's Quebec heritage.

It's unknown where Gosselin will end up next. It'll be interesting to see if The Boarding House eventually settles into a groove.
