The renovations are complete, and the original Intelligentsia Coffeebar is ready to reopen tomorrow. The space's over-three-week overhaul has brought double the seating, brand new furniture, and a fully rebuilt bar. Helmed by architecture firm Wheeler Kearns, who aimed to upgrade but keep the history and ambiance intact, they built a more intimate bar in the back and placed under a preserved remnant of the original sign. There's also baked goods by Floriole—the first time they've provided goods wholesale.

18 years after Founder Doug Zell brought the first artisan coffeeshop in the area, and since expanding throughout the city and country, the original has a brand new look. Look for the brand new location in Logan Square in a couple weeks.
