First it was Kuma's Too, now there's another spot aiming to mix things up on the Lakeview/Lincoln Park border. At Tommy Knuckles, partner Tyrrell Tomlin says they want to "be the cool guys in the neighborhood." Inspired by a mix between a former nickname and a term that the urban dictionary defines as "incredibly awesome and certifiably nuts," Tommy Knuckles will be a different kind of sports bar and eatery. Pictures of sports and political figures, such as Steve McQueen, Grace Jones, and Peter Tosh will line the walls.
The space is 3,000 square-feet and will seat 80 inside and 35 on a patio. The menu will focus on American upscale comfort food, craft beers, and specialty cocktails. There's a long bar, table service, and booths. Carlos Guerra and Marty Fernandez, a front-of-the-house veteran of Girl & the Goat and Hubbard Inn, are also partners.
The space is former home to Forno Diablo, which shuttered months ago. Get some knuckle sandwiches at Tommy Knuckles in mid-April.
