Clarke's on Damen, El Rincon Closed Up

New, 3 comments

Well, this is turning into a day of shutters as two restaurants with in four blocks of each other have shut their doors for good in Bucktown. The Damen Avenue location of Clarke's Diner, one of five locations of the local chain of late-night diners, closed up yesterday. This location was in an area that houses more upscale and refined residents than just mere blocks away in Wicker Park, where some cheaper options exist for more of the hipster crowd. The other locations are in areas that feature high volume traffic of students. They also didn't have much business during the week, presumably when Bucktown professionals were working.

Down the street on North Avenue, Mexican BYOB joint El Rincon Azteca has shuttered as well. Open less than a year, it joins others in a seemingly cursed stretch of North between Wood and Ashland that claims many concepts. There's two new storefronts in the area that will be home to something new soon.
