Look Inside American Junkie, Opening Today

Another day, another high-end sports bar/restaurant/club opens in River North. But not all of them have a full retractable roof and descending DJ booth (not pictured) and Kendal Duque coming in to run the kitchen like American Junkie does. His menu is available here.

If you stop in, expect to see plenty of American flags, televisions, and mirrors. A gigantic bar is the centerpiece of the open first floor, drawing attention from the get-go. Most of the high-end features are upstairs, including the largest single-panel high-definition TV screen in the Midwest and possibly the largest and flashiest American flag in a bar anywhere, taking up an entire wall. Tables are set up to raise and lower as service moves from dinner to VIP after 10:00 p.m.

Brace yourself for American Junkie branding across the country—their plan calls for three to four more in the next year and 30 more in the next seven. Every major city in the country might have their very own American Junkie too. "People love the (American Junkie) shirts, love the brand," owner Brad Parker says. "We have a lot of backers that believe in the concept."

Prepare for many more, based on the one opening tonight in River North.
