Lee Wolen Makes a Promise In Food & Wine's Best New Chef Competition

New, 1 comment

Voting is underway for Food & Wine's The People's Best New Chef Competition, and Lee Wolen (The Lobby) is upping the ante. If he wins the Great Lakes portion of the competition, Wolen promises to offer a special tasting menu on Tuesday, March 19. It will be a seven-course menu with champagne for $70, nearly half of the regular price. He's going to tweet a photo of a different course every day over the next week.

It'll be stiff competition for Wolen, however. Among the nine other contestants, five are local and quite accomplished: Matthias Merges (Yusho), Matthew Kirkley (L20), Jason Vincent (Nightwood), Thai Dang (Embeya), Jimmy Bannos Jr. (Purple Pig), plus Josh Adams (June in Palos Heights).

Voting ends next Monday, March 19.
