There's an obstacle in the way of Yusho Hyde Park. It turns out that the area of Hyde Park housing the space at 1301 E. 53rd once voted to be "dry." The precinct has changed, but a petition is needed to allow Yusho Hyde Park to serve alcohol. Residents have 30 days to object. Merges says he'd consider opening without a liquor license, but if he doesn't get one eventually he'd consider a different location. Hyde Park residents would really miss out if the new Yusho doesn't have cocktails. [Crain's via Hyde Park Herald]
