Michelle and Vinny Garcia are opening another bakery. The embattled former owners of the vegan Bleeding Heart are working on an "American girl's take on Mexican pastry" either late spring or early summer, according to Time Out Chicago. They were in San Francisco before heading back to Chicago, where Michelle worked at E. Leaven, and are now working to open Lucha Dulce. The Bleeding Heart mini-chain was completely shuttered in August amidst a myriad of accusations.
At Lucha Dulce, look for gelatin roses, candied sweet potatoes, Mexican hot chocolate croissant stacks, and other Mexican-inspired treats. Sparrow Coffee Roastery will provide the caffeine and Siren Betty is working on the design. One thing is for sure—this guy isn't happy.
