The team at Sixteen has lost a Beard-nominated and Jean Banchet award-winning pastry chef. Patrick Fahy, who held the executive pastry chef position at the two-Michelin-starred Sixteen at the Trump Tower since July 2012, moved on after service on Saturday.
Details about his next move and his replacement are currently scant, but the restaurant submitted this statement: "Patrick has been a tremendous asset to our team, and we are grateful for his contributions these past two years. We know he will continue to thrive and wish him well in his future endeavors. Chef Thomas Lents and the Sixteen team are looking forward to announcing a new pastry chef in the days ahead."
Fahy rose to prominence while working at Paul Kahan's avec and Blackbird before moving to Café des Architectes and eventually Sixteen. Also named Pastry Chef of the Year by the Tribune in 2010, one of Fahy's last moves at Sixteen was filling a portion of the Zhou B Art Center with steam from dry ice while making his dazzling "Smoking Affogato" ice cream dessert at the Meals on Wheels Celebrity Chef Ball in October.
