Mike Sheerin, Sarah Jordan, and Phil Rubino have finished their preliminary menus for Cicchetti, the Venetian small plate concept opening Dec. 16 adjacent to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Streeterville. Sheerin first created the food menus while Jordan and Rubino collaborated on changes.
Sheerin is putting his progressive experience to use in a different genre, tweaking traditional carpaccios, bruschettas, and other small cicchettis on the dinner and lunch menus. Rubino has spearheaded house-made pasta production. Large plates include duck three ways, NY strip, and the house specialty Venetian seafood stew.
Jordan, who will also be cooking savory, is utilizing the pastry expertise that won her a Jean Banchet award in the dessert menu. Her contributions include a reverse affogato, tiramisu sundae, and a chocolate cannoli with sweet potato flan.
The bar program, designed by bar manager Daniel Casteel, is based on the famous Harry's Bar in Venice. Cocktail menus are divided into "Italian Inspired" and classic sections, many utilize Italian apertifs. The wine, beer, and after dinner lists are also meant to fit into that theme.
Cicchetti opens on Monday, Dec. 16 for lunch and dinner. Reservations are available now, the menus below are subject to change.
