The Brixton, Opening Soon in Former Brasserie 54 Space, Names Chef

The Brixton, the forthcoming upscale, neighborhood spot from Tim Casey and Ted Webler owners of The Drum and Monkey, will have Kevin McMullen (EL Ideas, among 2012's "Young Guns") running the kitchen and will open within a month.

As executive chef/partner, McMullen will work with a small team crafting "casual fare, with a focus on the best product we can get."

McMullen says that "there seems to be a hole left in the neighborhood's heart since In Fine Spirits left" adding "my biggest concern thus far is fitting into the neighborhood, hoping the food will be accepted and enjoyed, (and that) the wine and cocktails go over well."

The restaurant, which is in the final phase of construction, will feature 80 seats inside (the patio, once renovated next spring, will add about another 40). The menu is still in "design phase, " according to McMullen.

Besides In Fine Spirits, the location has also housed Brasserie 54 (owners Nicole and Stephan Quaisser have stayed on as partners) and Premise.
