Kerry Simon, dubbed the "Rock & Roll chef" by Rolling Stone in the nineties, is taking over Chuck's Manufacturing on Michigan Avenue, according to a release. Originally reported by Crain's, Simon is rebranding the restaurant and lounge adjacent to the Hard Rock Hotel as Chuck's: A Kerry Simon Kitchen beginning November 19.
Simon, an Evanston native with scattered big-box restaurants in New York, Las Vegas, Miami, L.A., and Atlantic City, will oversee the food and beverage program. His brother Scott Simon will run the kitchen. The space will soon have decor based on the James Bond flick "Goldfinger" and Simon will add "classic American" dishes. Chuck's Manufacturing opened in the former China Grill space in October 2012 with chef Justin Frankenberg at the helm.
