Say goodbye to Lee Wolen at The Lobby. The former Eleven Madison Park sous chef, who garnered a string a gushing reviews (including a rare five-star review from former Time Out Chicago dining editor David Tamarkin) for his work as chef de cuisine, is out. Wolen will finish up his stint at The Peninsula Hotel in mid-December; he took over The Lobby kitchen in July 2012.
The Peninsula also announced a new executive chef, Mike Wehrle, who is coming over from Asia to oversee all of the Peninsula restaurants (Shanghai Terrace, The Lobby, Pierrot Gourmet). The hotel hasn't chosen Wolen's immediate replacement; Wehrle will helm The Lobby's kitchen until they do.
Rumors are flying as to Wolen's next move. Stay tuned to see where he ends up.
