Starting today, Chicago is getting its first taste of the fast-casual low-calorie chain cuisine that made waves on the West Coast. The first LYFE Kitchen opened today in the ground floor of a new condo building at Clark and Hubbard, with additional locations on the way to Streeterville and Evanston.
The space is smaller than other LYFE locations (about 35,000 square-feet) and composed of recycled and renewable materials. Booths, two-tops, four-tops, a communal table, a "den" with couches, and an herb wall fill out the open layout. Guests order from a counter, bring a GPS to their seat, and receive their food within a 10-minute target time.
The franchised location (by Chicagoan Carey Cooper) serves a menu designed by Art Smith. Look out for many more locations soon.
