26-year River North sushi spot Ginza Restaurant is the victim of a hotel real estate deal and is set to close on October 26, Crain's is reporting. The Tokyo Hotel, which houses Ginza, has been bought and will be replaced by a "hipster hostel" that is targeting a younger crowd. The new owners are replacing Ginza with a bar, the Broken Shaker, and a cafe.
Ginza has withstood 26 years of neighborhood change in River North, but this is one change that the essential sushi spot could not withstand. Diners have less than three weeks to stop in.
