Scofflaw, one of the highest-regarded cocktail bars in town, is most known for a rotating list of "gin-soaked" cocktails. The Logan Square destination's special creation for Cocktail Week fits into Scofflaw's identity by utilizing its extensive collection of gin and craft liquors.
Named "Smither-Jones" after a song by The Jam, Shapiro mixes Broker's Gin, Lustua East India Solera Sherry, and EXR liqueur. He strains the mixture and serves the cocktail in a coupe glass.
Scofflaw bartender Joe Darling, who created the cocktail, describes it as a "fall-flavored spin on a Negroni;" nutty, bitter, and reminiscent of German wine flavors. Darling feels the German-style Amaro pairs well with the sherry and rounds out the gin.
Stop by Scofflaw all week to indulge in the drink for just $8.
