EVANSTON—Evanston boutique Chalk—a regular on the pages of Elle and Harper's Bazaar—hosted a glitzy dinner party at Found this week. On the menu? Kale salad, champagne, and emeralds. Pull up a seat and take a peek inside the soiree.
MAG MILE—Saks Fifth Avenue's new men's store will open in the Michigan Avenue flagship in January 2014. Men can expect one of the Midwest's largest shoe departments, bespoke suits, designer denim, and—for good measure—small plates from a Barcelona-born chef.
THE LOOP—Peter Thum will be presenting his unique line of jewelry, Liberty United, at the Cadillac Palace Theatre throughout Chicago Ideas Week. The elegant, haunting pieces are made from pieces of illegal firearms, and bear the serial number of a gun or bullet that has been removed from circulation. Talk about an artful way to broach the topic of gun control.
OLD TOWN—Roam, a new boutique from the owner of Cityblue Apparel & Denim and CB, opens in Old Town next month. Decked with taxidermy and all-black walls, the two-story shop will stock designer lines for men and women, and will represent hard-to-find labels as well as local designers.
