ROSCOE VILLAGE— At the river's edge in Clark Park a Studio Gang-designed boathouse is about to open. Curbed preempted the ribbon cutting with a pictorial trot around the site late last week. Built at a cost of $7.4M, a sore subject for some, the structure is the first of four architecturally slick boathouses coming to the North and South branches of the Chicago River.
KENWOOD— The showiest mansion in Kenwood and likely the entire South Side just sold for $3.95M. Built in 1914 for Planetarium donor and Sears exec Max Adler, the 11,500-square-foot palace is a showcase of conspicuous wealth with its 18 glitzy rooms, English gardens, and 0.8-acre urban lot. STREETERVILLE— Two divine corner units have hit the market at Mies' Glass House (860-880 N LSD), one for $360K and the other $650K. Both are high-floor spaces with identical views; the variation is strictly in size and finish. There's been a torrent of openings at these iconic twin lakefront towers recently. Ride the wave!
EVERYWHERE— Rental real estate aggregator and advice-giver Rentenna published a relatively novel heat map plotting neighborhood desirability by restaurant delivery options. The South and West Sides were virtually cut out of contention, as all but a few of the top 20 delivery nabes cluster along the north lakefront. The map coincides with Rentenna's new delivery score feature attached to apartment buildings all across town.
