Hoppin' Hots Opens in Former Great Lake Space; 2 Sparrows' Greek Wine Dinner Tonight; More

ANDERSONVILLE—Great Lake closed back in January and now a new restaurant, Hoppin' Hots, has opened in its place. The gourmet hot dog shop, which opened this past Wednesday, sells its specialty dogs for $10 (including fries) along with hand-crafted milkshakes (of note is the roasted strawberry-Grand Marnier shake). LAKEVIEW—2 Sparrows' Greek wine dinner begins tonight at 7:00 p.m. tonight. Executive chef Gregory Ellis has crafted a four-course Mediterranean-inspired menu and Greek wine expert Ted Diamantis of Diamond Wine Importers will be there to discuss wine. WEST LOOP—Bill Kim is hosting a cooking demo tomorrow at bellyQ. The four-course cooking class will feature Kim taking the dishes step-by-step while answering questions (maybe bring up his decision to fold Urban Belly into bellyQ) and talking to guests. In other bellyQ news, the restaurant has announced new menu items including stuffed roasted quail with endive salad, Chinese sausage and sticky rice, and mustard braised Swiss chard (with burnt brisket ends).
