Kanela Opening Second Location in February

After two years of success at their Lakeview location, Kanela, the Greek-inspired brunch spot is adding a second location, this time in Old Town. The restaurant is taking the place of former tenant Las Piñatas which closed last month. Chris Lardakis (Municipal), who owns the first Kanela, will partner with former Illinois state treasurer Alexi Giannoulias on this location.

The restaurant will seat 80 and serve breakfast, lunch, and brunch only. Expect to see a similar menu of their local and organic favorites with a Greek twist: spicy feta omelette, Kanela (cinnamon) chip pancakes, and a few special additions exclusively for Old Town. As for indulging in one of their signature breakfast cocktails? A liquor license is in the works, but they plan to start off as BYOB when they open in February.
