Is duck the new chicken? It might seem that way lately, as the floating fowl seems to be popping up everywhere. City Winery is launching "duck taco tuesdays" in conjunction with Goose Island Brewery, featuring $2 duck tacos (braised duck, cabbage salad, "guacamatillo" salso, corn tortilla) and live music, throughout January. Each event starts at 7:30 and carry a $10 admission charge, a 312 brew is included.
Meanwhile, Primehouse is hosting a one-of-a-kind Duck and French Press Soul Food Dinner. Primehouse chef David Burke and D'Artagnan founder Ariane Daguin are preparing an all-duck dinner — including dessert — on January 10. The highlight of the evening is sure to be the demonstration of the duck press, an invention that squeezes flavor out of duck meat. Tickets run $95.
Finally, Bon Appetit named duck eggs as one of the top 25 food trends of 2013. How much duck is too much duck, or will the duck fly high?
