City Provisions has served it's last farm dinner, but you haven't seen the last of Cleetus Friedman. Citing the cost of using the highest quality ingredients in an area without foot traffic, Friedman closed up his locally-sourced, sustainable deli yesterday. "Ravenswood is not enough for the model of the business I have," Friedman said. "There's a lot of support here but not enough volume."
As for what's next, Friedman says he's already putting feelers out for another restaurant. He's looking to do the same types of ideas, like farm dinners and sustainability, but doing it somewhere else in Chicago. He'll decide exactly what and where very soon, until then he'll keep sharp with personal chef gigs and pop-ups in the City Provisions space. Look for more from him in the coming months.
