Sushi Dokku, the new 50-seat sushi spot from Susan Thompson and Angela Hepler-Lee, two of co-owners of recently shuttered Sushi Wabi in the same space, is preparing to open to the public. 312 Dining Diva reports that the restaurant was soft open last night, and a call to the restaurant confirms they'll be holding friends and family dinners all this week. They plan on opening to the public officially next Monday and will not take reservations this week, but those who want to check out the place early may have luck by walking in.
What's on offer? Small plates like tuna tataki, grilled cobia, tempura, and fried shishito peppers, special nigiri bites, sashimi, and all manner of rolls, from the expected (spicy tuna) to the creative (tuna and microgreens, the Northern California roll with two types of crab). Check out the full menu here. They plan on delivering in the Loop and will open for lunch in the spring.
Officially opening Monday, January 21; 823 West Randolph St., 312-455-8238
