Starving Artists Event Brings Together Artists, Chefs

New, 7 comments

The Chicago Artists' Coalition will host their annual fundraiser, Starving Artist, on Saturday, October 6 from 7 to 11 p.m. Redefining the term 'starving artist,' the event will pair four local artists with like-minded chefs to create edible installations and new works of art which will then be auctioned off. Last year, the event raised more than $20,000 for CAC's mission and programs, and this year it will help fund a new Starving Artist Grant that will provide support for a local Chicago artist. The event will include a performance processional by The Power of Cheer along with live music, cocktails, beer and wine to complement the edible creations.

This year's artist and chef pairings are Laura Letinsky with food preservationist Tara Jane of Jane Addams Hull-House Museum, Jeanne Dunning with Jared Van Camp (Nellcote), Erik Peterson with Erlin Wu-Bower (Publican Quality Meats) and Jenny Kendler with Beverly Kim (Bonsoirée). In addition, the event will feature artisanal food installations including a charcuterie battle between Publican Quality Meats and Old Town Social. Purchase your tickets online now.
