The Deal: To celebrate its 85th anniversary in Chicago, Italian Village (71 W. Monroe) will offer a different original menu recipe special, which includes soup or salad, entree and spumoni or lemon ice for just $8.50.
When: For lunch every day this week between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. from Sept. 17 to 23.
On the menu: half spaghetti and half meat ravioli with meat or mushroom sauce (Monday); mixed greens, tomato, artichokes, fresh mozzarella and diced chicken tossed in Italian dressing (Tuesday); chicken breast pizzaiola with mostaccioli; (Wednesday); sausage parmigiana served with mostaccioli (Thursday); and spaghetti marinara in a sauce of plum tomatoes, olive oil, parsley and garlic (Friday).
Fun Facts: When Italian Village opened in 1927, spaghetti and meatballs cost $0.40 and a martini was $0.43. The restaurant has served over nine million meals and employed nearly 35,000 people.
