Doughnuts are officially the new cupcakes. La Madia owner Jonathan Fox is the latest chef to jump into the game. He's planning to open Firecakes at 68 W. Hubbard at the end of October. What sets his apart? Fox plans to use his an heirloom recipe from his wife's great-grandfather, Grandpa Billy Hobbs, who baked the sweet treats over an open fire.
