Lao Mala, Dinkel's Cafe, Sky Terrace, More Open

CHINATOWNTony Hu, who already has six other Lao concepts in Chinatown, has taken over the shuttered Lure Izakaya space (2017 S. Wells) and will open yet another restaurant: Lao Mala. This new place, set to soft open today, will focus not on a specific region but more on the spiciness of Chinese cuisine. In Chinese, ma la means "numbing-spicy." [Tribune]

LAKEVIEW—The long-in-progress Dinkel's Cafe has finally opened. The cafe debuted yesterday (Aug. 21) and will focus on selling a variety of sandwiches. The new room, next door to the bakery at 3327 N. Lincoln, has space for about 20 seats. The bakery will still offer all its pastries and cakes. [EaterWire]
