Back in June, Antoine Cedicci surprisingly shuttered his longtime Gold Coast Italian spot Pane Caldo. At the time, a note on the restaurant's website said it would relocate in the Gold Coast "soon," but it's possible he decided to move a little further west. Over the weekend, Eater got a tip that Cedicci opened Trattoria Ultimo, a casual Italian BYO in West Town in the former Bobo's Market/Rotofugi space at 1953 W. Chicago.
Today, Thrillist reported more news, including the full menu, which has everything priced under $15. The tight menu has items like burrata with grilled squash and balsamic; risotto with taleggio and arugula; linguini with wild casco cod ragu; and a current special of roasted beef short ribs found on the daily chalkboard menu.
Trattoria Ultimo is actually Cedicci's second new restaurant in the last few months. Right around the same time that Pane Caldo closed, Alimentari opened in the West Loop at 621 W. Randolph offering a small-plates and wine-focused concept. So is Trattoria Ultimo the new Pane Caldo or will Cedicci actually re-open his upscale Italian spot?
