If you're headed to Lollapalooza this weekend, you'll have an extensive list of places to check out inside Chow Town but for those who are looking for something outside festival grounds, several places will be running Lolla specials as well. Avoid the crowds and eat like a rock star to stay fueled up for all of the madness. And if you want to squeeze as much music as you can out of the weekend, catch some live sets from artists such as Mix Master Mike and JC Brooks and The Uptown Sound.
1) The Florentine
Where: 151 W. Adams
What: Chef Chris Macchia has a Rocking Lollapalooza menu lets you eat like your favorite rock star. Vegetarians can choose the barbabietole or verdure al cartoccio while meat lovers can devour a classic bistecca alla Fiorentina. Other items include an octopus carpaccio and melone with saffron pickled fennel, arugula, grana and lemon oil. A number of Rockin’ Cocktails will add spirited revelry to the weekend. The special menu is available August 3 to 5.
2) Lockdown Bar & Grill
Where: 1024 N. Western
What: Metal heads can chow down like Ozzy with a “War Pigs” burger tribute to Black Sabbath. The burger comes topped with bacon, Angus beef, prosciutto and carnitas as all four meats fight for your attention.
3) Brasserie By LM
Where: 800 S. Michigan
What: Lollapalooza attendees are invited to enjoy an exclusive $15 Burger & Beer combo. The special includes the signature Brasserie Burger with a refreshing Heineken to wash it all down.
4) I Dream of Falafel
Where: 331 S. Franklin; 112 W. Monroe; 555 W. Monroe
What: Show your festival wristband and get any wrap and a drink for only $5. The deal runs all day on August 3 and 4.
5) RA Sushi
Where: 1139 N. State
What: Present your ticket for special half-priced “RA”ckin’ Rolls available August 3 to 5. The roll includes kani kama crab and cream cheese rolled in rice and seaweed, lightly tempura battered and topped with guacamole and “RA”ckin’ shrimp.
6) Magnolia Bakery
Where: 108 N. State
What: A special Lollapalooza cupcake, in vanilla or chocolate, and topped with the festival’s blue and orange colors will be available August 3 through 5 for $3.50. A dollar from every cupcake sold will go to Rock for Kids, a non-profit organization that provides music education to children in need.
7) Rockit Bar & Grill
Where: 22 W. Hubbard
What: Stop in Friday night for a free DJ set by Ryan Cabrera and performance by South of 80. JC Brooks and The Uptown Sound will perform the following night on August 4. And if you’re looking to recover or prepare for Lolla, stop in all weekend for an Acoustic Brunch featuring a $5 Bloody Mary bar, mimosas and mojitos.
8) Flo & Santos
Where: 1310 S. Wabash
What: A special Lolla pre-fixe menu includes a pitcher of Zywiec lager or carafe of house red or white wine, large house salad, 14” one topping pizza, and Polish donuts for $40. The offer is available August 3 to 5.
9) Vertigo Sky Lounge
Where: 2 W. Erie
What: See Beastie Boys DJ Mix Master Mike spin on both Friday, August 3rd and Saturday August 4th at 10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online.
