Lula Cafe's Jason Hammel is the latest chef to step up to the plate for Falafill's monthly guest Chefs for Charity series. Hammel's wrap, which goes on sale at both Falafill locations in Lakeview (3202 N. Broadway) and the Loop (72 E. Adams) tomorrow, will comprise traditional falafel topped with summer corn and smoked Sun Gold tomato relish, pickled pistachios, crispy fried kale and honey labneh, a soft cheese made from yogurt.
The proceeds from Hammel's falafel, which will cost $6.50, will benefit Pilot Light, an organization he co-founded with other chefs like Ryan Poli, Justin Large, Paul Kahan and Matthias Merges, to help instruct kids in the Chicago Public School system about learning through food.
And while tomorrow marks the first day of Hammel's charity falafel, it's the last day for you do enter Falafill's Lollapalooza ticket giveaway. Falafill is giving away a pair of 3-day passes along with a $75 Falafill gift card good all weekend at their Loop location. To enter, just fill out the form and hope your name is the one randomly selected at 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 1. Note: you must be at least 18 years old to enter. Good luck!
