It's National Tequila Day so what better way to celebrate than with a shot of reposado and the news that Big Star is working on a line of salsas and marinades. Chef/owner Paul Kahan tweeted a teaser pic and then confirmed the product line with Eater.
Kahan said they're working on prototypes and labeling now, but that they don't have a firm on-sale date; watch for more news in the next couple of weeks on that. He added they'll have at least two types of salsa—smoky chipotle New Mexico chile (in the photo) and a tomatillo salsa—as well as an al pastor marinade.
The salsas will first start being sold at all Kahan's restaurants (Big Star, Publican, avec, etc) and Publican Quality Meats and then eventually branching out to other local gourmet retailers, like City Provisions Deli. When they do launch, Kahan said they'll likely cost between $6 and $8. Now if they'd only have a DIY taco kit. Oh wait, they do.
