Mana Food Bar Sets Up Recovery Fund for Beating Victim

Co-workers at Mana Food Bar have set up a recovery fund for a Chicago woman after she was beaten by an unknown assailant inside her apartment. Ashley Pruneau arrived home after work on July 1 and was savagely attacked by a lone man with a hammer, suffering numerous blows to the head. She required life-saving head surgery and will need a second surgery in a month. Her fellow employees are hoping to raise money so that the cook can “focus on her recovery, not on how she will pay for it."

The fund is nearly halfway to its goal of raising $5,000. Donations can be made through GoFundMe, and updates on Pruneau's condition will be posted on the site.
