Break out your tongs and grill brush: it’s barbecue season. Head to Waveland Park this weekend for the 2nd annual Chill & Grill Festival, hosted by Better Homes and Gardens and Weber. The event will feature chef demonstrations, recipe tastings, grilling classes, live music and more.
Celebrity chef Guy Fieri will headline the festival, but plenty of local stars, including Jared Van Camp (Nellcôte), Hearty Boys Dan Smith and Steve McDonagh and Ina Pinkney (Ina's) will showcase their own cuisines.
In addition to the above, other chefs and restaurants, like Charlie McKenna (Lillie's Q), Susan and Drew Gross (West Town Tavern), Cory Morris (Mercat a la Planxa), GT Fish & Oyster, Hot Chocolate, Nacional 27, Black Dog Gelato and others will do demos and offer tastings throughout the weekend. National barbecue star Adam Perry Lang will show off his 'cue skills on Sunday and reps from Weber Grill Restaurant will offer hands-on demonstrations to teach at-home grilling techniques.
Admission to the festival is free, but you need to purchase Tasting Cards ($11.25 online or $15 at the door) to enjoy the food and drinks or Weber Class tickets ($25 online or $30 at the door) for the hands-on demos. It takes place on June 9 (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and June 10 (12 p.m. to 5 p.m.) at Waveland Park in Lakeview, off of Recreation Drive and to the south of Waveland Tennis Courts.
