Dragon Ranch Moonshine & BBQ, the latest concept from Rockit Ranch Productions, quietly opened its doors last night after making a game-time decision to do so.
The menu, designed by exec chef Red Hauge and sous chef Shaun Connolly, had been talked about as a barbecue-meets-Asian concept, but looking at it (below), it seems like it leans a lot more toward American fare, with dishes like pimento cheese, crispy pig ears, pulled pork, sliced brisket, mac n' cheese and more. There are a few nods to Asian fare like the banh mi "sando" (as it's called on the menu), grilled vegetable tempura and tonkatsu ramen.
As the name suggests, the drink program features an array of moonshine-based cocktails, including the rhubarb lemonade (moonshine, rhubarb simple syrup, lemon juice and rosemary), the moonshine sling (Original Moonshine, Domaine de Canton, lime, pineapple, cherry bitters, ginger beer and egg white) and the Bushwacker (Original Moonshine, Bacardi Select, Bacardi 151, Kahlua, Coco Lopez, Van Gogh Chocolate and chocolate syrup). All drinks are served in mason jars. Check out the full menu.
