What was rumor yesterday is confirmed today: Marigold is moving. The Indian restaurant that has been open for six years in Uptown next to the Annoyance Theater confirmed this morning that it will indeed close on July 8 and then re-open this fall in Andersonville following the build-out of a still-undisclosed location.
Yesterday Eater speculated the space Marigold is taking over could be one vacated in the last year by Sushi Luxe, La Cocina de Frida or Olé Olé. A rep for the restaurant confirmed that it is, in fact, one of those, but couldn't say which ... yet. So it looks like Uptown's loss is A-ville's gain, but now a new restaurant could easily have a home at 4832 N. Broadway in a stretch Rahm Emanuel and the city hope to turn into a new entertainment and theater destination. Timing could be good for a smart restaurateur.
