Details has named Ruxbin one of the best new Asian restaurants in the U.S. Don't get us wrong: Ruxbin rocks. But to say it's one of the best new Asian restaurants because chef Edward Kim is of Korean descent and incorporates some Asian influences doesn't make it an Asian restaurant. Even the restaurant says, "Diners can expect American comfort punctuated with Kim’s Chicago-born, Le Cordon Bleu trained, Korean American palate."
It also doesn't seem to matter to writer JJ Goode that the restaurant also just celebrated its second anniversary this month. So much for new. Regardless, it's good to see Ruxbin and the Kim sibs getting more deserving national attention.
One thing Details does get props for is including Yusho's skewered sweetbreads and Slurping Turtle's duck fat fried chicken to its list of the 20 best new Asian dishes in America and for calling DuckNRoll one of the five best new Asian food trucks in the country.
