EVERYWHERE— To mark the first day of summer, we've compiled a mapped guide to Chicago's public outdoor pools. Free in most instances, at least for the kiddies, come see which of the 37 open facilities you ought to visit when trekking to the beach is too tiresome.
LINCOLN PARK— The other day, Curbed checked in on the DePaul Theater School's construction progress. We've glimpsed the renderings before, but its elegance is already evident in a half-finished skeletal state. A transparent street-level facade will invite passerby to look in on workshops and sideshow performances. Construction should wrap in July 2013.
DOUGLAS/THE GAP— Here's an infrequent market find: a relatively-affordable early Sullivan home. The new-to-market South Side property is essential just another Victorian rowhome, but a few elements of Sullivan's vernacular style are creeping to the fore. Built in 1885, the exquisitely-preserved home is yours for $625K.
LINCOLN PARK— Structured Development's New City mixed-use project has graduated from the vague site plan stage to a full-blown rendering reveal! The plan's unfortunate modifications include a reduction in density (from three apt towers to one), and the reorientation of the tower away from the Halsted and Clybourn intersection. Hey, at least we've got movement on some well-positioned vacant parcels.
