Embeya, a New Asian Concept, Headed for Randolph St.

Are any new restaurants opening anywhere other than the West Loop? Of course, but it seems like Randolph just keeps heating up and it's happening once again with the announcement of Embeya, a new restaurant opening later this summer from former Elysian Hotel director of ops Attila Gyulai and chef Thai Dang (RIA, L20).

The approximately 160-seat spot (with about 40 more on the outdoor patio), being designed by Karen Herold of 555 International (with branding being done by Grip Design's Kevin McConkey), will showcase bold Asian flavors from Dang's Vietnamese upbringing mixed with French technique.

Embeya, which means "little one" in Vietnamese and was Dang's childhood nickname, will feature dishes like kampachi with puff rice, shiitake and lemon oil) and green papaya with cilantro, beef jerky and crispy shallots. The menu, which will have both small and large plates, will range from $9 to $32. Watch for more info in the coming weeks.
