Bleeding Heart Bakery Opens Doors at New Location

New, 8 comments

After pushing through controversy over their West Town location and shuttering the shop in Oak Park, Bleeding Heart Bakery finally opened its doors Thursday. The shop's owners, Michelle and Vinny Garcia, had wanted to open about a month ago, but were pushed back due to construction and financial concerns.

But now that the new Lakeview shop is open, the Garcias are "returning to our roots by letting the food and seasons speak to us," according to their email newsletter circulated this morning.

The new shop will allow Vinny Garcia to build out his cake business, as they say this spot will be "the sole location to truly get a Bleeding Heart cake." Not sure what that means customers at West Town and the suburban spot in Elmhurst will be getting.

Pop in today for specials on tarts (buy one, get the second half off); flavors include key lime, chocolate rosewater and chocolate salted caramel. On Saturday, LevelUp will be on site, offering anyone $10 toward purchases if they have the LevelUp app on their phone.

The Belmont location will be open daily (save Monday) from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and will offer a selection of savory small plates during the day. BHB will also offer weekend brunch between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
