Ladies and gentlemen, Eater readers of all ages, please inch a little closer to the computer screen for a special announcement. Starting right now and ending, oh, around 5 p.m. Friday, Eater will be your headquarters for all things pizza for this, our first-ever Eater Pizza Week. We talk to top pizza makers, talk to chefs about their favorite pies in the city, discuss deep dish and feature all manner of maps, guides and more.
And it doesn't end with the content. For Pizza Week, Eater has teamed up with five Chicago pizzerias to give away 10 pies each at random, in special custom Eater pizza boxes (at right), to their delivery customers. So those who order from Giordano's in the Gold Coast, Chicago's Pizza in Ravenswood, Piece Brewery & Pizzeria in Bucktwon, Roots Handmade Pizza in West Town and Bricks in Lincoln Park may have a nice surprise coming their way.
And did you think we'd stop there? Just like Burger Week in 2011, we reached out to a handful of restaurants—Sunda, NoMI Kitchen, Franks N Dawgs, Chicago q and Butcher & the Burger—to create special one-off Eater Pizza Week special dishes. Those could be an actual pizza or an interpretation of a pizza, so pop in all this week at lunch or dinner (depending on where) to get a piece of the, ahem, pie. [NOTE: due to a last-minute closure in the first part of the week for renovations, Franks N Dawgs will introduce its pizza dog on Friday and run it for a week.] Each day this week, we'll profile a different dish at each of these spots.
So be sure to come back here regularly throughout the week to check out all the Pizza Week content and order some pies to join in the fun. Eater Pizza Week — Taste the Difference.
