New, 13 comments

A 14-year-old boy was shot inside an Uptown pizza shop on Tuesday and a 22-year-old man is now facing first-degree murder charges. The shooting, which took place at Laurie's Pizza and Liquors on Broadway at Foster, happened while 14-year-old Ivan Alanis ate pizza around 2:45 a.m. with his adult sister and her friend.

According to news reports, Alanis and Andre Alejandro, the older man and an alleged gang rival, got into an argument inside Laurie's. Alejandro reportedly left the scene, but returned shortly after with a gun and fired shots through an open door, hitting Alanis in the face. The boy was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Alejandro is expected in court today.
