Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution Day takes place this Saturday and, while there are 415 public events and 456 dinner parties in 579 cities in 58 countries, a few of those are happening right here in Chicago—and you can get involved.
Eight different events will take place in Chicago. Hit Green City Market's Club Sprouts tent between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. to check out art projects focusing on healthy eating, a food demo by chef Val Bolon (from Top Chef at 9:30 and family yoga at 10:15.
Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. head over to the Centered Chef Studios in the West Loop for demonstrations by Chef Phil from Protein Bar and Centered Chef's Ryan Hutmacher. Also in the West Loop, the Calphalon Culinary Center will host a variety of demos and talks, including interactive chef demos by Wolfgang Puck Catering exec chefs Steve Madonna and Corey Fuller. To find other events, check out the Food Revolution events' search.
On Friday night, however, Karyn's on Green will host a three-course dinner, which can be reserved now, too.
Looking ahead a little bit, Melissa Graham's Purple Asparagus non profit will host a fundraising five-course dinner for the Revolution Food campaign. That takes place June 1 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago; tickets cost $100 per person or $180 per couple. Check out the full menu and to purchase tickets now.
