Caffé Oliva Opening at Ohio Street Beach Memorial Day

Following the success and popularity of the Dock at Montrose, a fantastic dog-friendly 3,300 square-foot beachside deck at Montrose Beach with delicious fare and a full bar that debuted for the 2011 summer season, the owners are now gearing up to open Caffé Oliva at Ohio Street Beach.

The new cafe, which aims to open Memorial Day weekend, will seat between 130 and 150 people at a structure that will be set up between the end of May and October, according to co-owner Luke Cholodecki. Caffé Oliva, a name that nods toward Italian cuisine and the cafe's location adjacent to Olive Park, will have a Mediterranean-themed menu with grilled marinated asparagus with olive oil and shaved parmesan; a crostini plate; grilled peppers; panzanella salad; caprese salad, various panini (chicken, prosciutto, portobello), flatbreads and daily seafood specials.

The cafe will feature an expanded wine selection focusing on wines from Italy, Spain, France and possibly Chile and Argentina, but the final list is still being worked on. It'll also have beer and spritis.

The Dock at Montrose, which has a stage for live bands and DJs, will open May 1, weather pending. Cholodecki said as long as temperatures are above 60, they'll open and kick off the beach season. They'll have an updated menu there as well and have a new bar where you will actually be able to pull up a stool and order a drink. Summer, it seems, can't come soon enough.
